How do I pronounce Otalo? What's it mean?

(ō · tal · ō)   We derived the name Otalo, after deep and long market research (ie. lots of time hanging out at our local cafe) by combining the Finnish word for house - talo - with the Zen symbol enzo "O". Yes, after way too many cups of coffee, we figured we'd bring a Zen calmness to looking for a Finnish house. Well, any house.

How do I see all the vacation homes in a specific town?

Start from our home page by either entering the name of a place (town, state, country, etc.) you'd like to go OR click on the map. Once you are in the results, you can click on the green markers on the map - which are towns that have vacation homes - or Click on the green towns or states at the top of the page. You can click on anything that is green!

How do I see more information about a vacation home?

You can click on any photo of a home or the 'details' link and we will popup more details. You can also click on the town name, or any of the cute little icons at the bottom of the listing.

How do I filter the listings to only show homes with 3 bedrooms and no-smoking?

Use the Refine section left of the page - you can specify # of bedrooms, $$$ cost, availability dates, pets and smoking options and other criteria. Then just click on the Filter button. We will then show you homes in the location you've chosen that match your criteria.

How do I sort the home listings by highest price first?

You can sort by # of bedrooms, cost, and name of the town by clicking on the appropriate sort criteria on the left of the search page. You can sort by ascending or descending by clicking on the arrow next to the current sort criteria.

How do I save a home to Favorites?

Just click the grey 'heart' icon at the bottom of a listing. That will add this home to your favorites (and turn the heart red, and circle the listing in red.) You can turn favorite off for a home just by clicking the red heart (it will turn grey).

How do I email my list of favorites to a friend?

Just click 'Email Results' link on the left side of the Favorites page. We will automatically format an email (using your email program) that includes a TinyURL link that will bring your friend to your favorites page.

Is the information about the homes correct?

We're just a search engine (like Google), so we're just showing you the information that has been posted on the web by homeowners. When you narrow down your search to the homes that you like, you should click through to the source and contact the homeowner to confirm the details and make reservations.
